The Institute will leverage Canada's strong financial record and reinforce our financial sector brand. The Government of Canada is committed to building on the strengths of our financial system. We have been a world leader throughout the global financial crisis, and initiatives like this one being launched today will only add to our international reputation.

–Jim Flaherty, Canada's Minister of Finance

Ontario’s contribution will help us capitalize on our strong record in the financial services sector and our highly skilled and diverse workforce. The leadership provided by the Institute will help ensure the financial services sector remains a growth engine for our province that will continue to create thousands of high-paying jobs and protect the interests of consumers and investors.

–Dwight Duncan, Ontario Minister of Finance

Running a successful global financial company requires professionals who can assess and manage risks on an integrated, enterprise-wide basis. The cross sector and cross professional collaboration fostered by the Institute is designed to support that through its identification, creation and promotion of best practices needed by financial professionals.

–Dominic D’Alessandro, Financial Services Leadership Council Chair and former CEO of Manulife Financial

We applaud a concentrated focus on risk. The global business world is becoming more complex with increasing government legislation and regulation, fast-changing markets, products and competition. These changes create both risks and opportunities. The CICA develops guidance and thought leadership on the management and oversight of risk for its members and other stakeholders. We welcome the cross-professional collaborative approach that is being embraced by the GRIFS.

–Kevin Dancey, President and CEO of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants

Canada’s banking system has become a model of sound risk management for the rest of the world, and I think it is only fitting that the Global Risk Institute be located here. We have a lot of knowledge and best practices to share with the world.

–Nancy Hughes Anthony, Former President and CEO of the Canadian Bankers Association
